PS4 Media Player Not Reading MP4 Files- Fixed

July 27, 2016

Summary: PS4 won't play MP4 files? This tutorial explains the reason and walks you through how to get MP4 play on PS4 without hassle.

Sony is finally adding a dedicated media player app to the PS4, which is compatible with a larger variety of file formats than the PS3's player. As it claimed, PS4 can playback MP4 movies over both wi-fi (DLNA) and USB. However, in some cases, you'll find your MP4 files can’t be played on PS4... In this article, we’d like to help you solve the MP4 to PS4 playback issues.

Why PS4 media player not reading your MP4 files? The reason is that different MP4 files are encoded with different audio and video codecs. According to PlayStation support website, PS4 only supports playing MP4 files encoded with H.264/MPEG-4 AVC High Profile (AAC LC). If the MP4 video is not encoded with PS4 compatible codec, we will fail to stream MP4 to PS4 or cannot play MP4 on PS4 even if successfully transferred MP4 to PlayStation4.

To solve PS4 won't play MP4 problem, the easy and quick workaround is to encode/re-encode MP4 to PS4 compatible H.264 or MPEG-4 encoded MP4 files. Along with some help from third-party program like Brorsoft Video Converter (available for Windows and Mac), you can achieve your goal effortlessly. This software can do batch conversion from MP4, MKV, MOV, VOB and more to PS4 supported video formats with fast encoding speed and excellent output video quality. Step 2: Choose best format for burning to DVD

Next, you need to click "Format" drop-down menu to select "DivX AVI(*.avi)" as the output format from "Common Video" category. It is a good format for burning to DVD.

Tip: You can also customize output video quality by click "Setting" button to change video bitrate, frame rate, video size, etc, keeping video quality as true and so on.

Step 3: Start conversion

Click "Convert" button to start and finish converting MVI to DVD supported format for burning MVI to DVD effortlessly. After the conversion, hit the Open button to get the output AVI files.

Step 4: Burn .MVI to DVD with Nero

Basically there are two different ways to burn an .avi-file on DVD with Nero for play in a DVD player:

1. If you have a DVD-player that is capable of playing avi-files, you can simply use Nero Burning Rom or Nero Express and burn a data disc with the .avi-file untouched.
2. However, for NeroVision, I suppose you don't want a data disc with an avi-file but a "real" Video-DVD in compatible DVD-format. For that you will need Nero Video. In the "Create & Export" menu, choose DVD- DVD-Video, then import the .avi-file and follow the instructions. You can either create a menu and chapters, or just make a simple DVD without menu and one video. In the final step, NeroVideo will either write the necessary DVD structure on a DVD or to a folder on your hard disk. If you used NeroVision before, it should be easy for you because NeroVideo is very similar.

This post presents how to convert 1080-60p H.264 MOV video files taken with a Canon EOS 1300D/Rebel T6 for smooth editing on Mac Final Cut Pro 7, FCP X (El Capitan included).

The Canon EOS 1300D, or Rebel T6 as it's known in North America, is Canon's latest entry-level DSLR. Announced in March 2016, it's a minor update to the 1200D / T5 launched two years previously.

"I have recorded many videos by Canon EOS 1300D. The videos showed as H.264 MOV format. I've been trying to figure out how to edit the Canon EOS Rebel T6 MOV in Final Cut Pro, but get no effective result. Do I need to rewrap the H.264 MOV to some formats that Apple ProRes MOV support better?"

Whether you get older or latest camera from Canon EOS series in hand, you must have experienced a terrible editing process with its H.264 encoded MOV files in FCP 7 or FCP X like above user. Any possible solution?

In order to make Canon EOS 1300D footages editable in FCP 7, you have to convert H.264 MOV to ProRes 422, the codec which is proved to be the most compatible one with FCP.

You are provided with five options, including Apple ProRes 422 HQ (*.mov), Apple ProRes 422 (*.mov), Apple ProRes 422 (LT) (*.mov), Apple ProRes 422 (Proxy) (*.mov) and ProRes 4444 (*.mov).

We at Brorsoft naturally recommends the ProRes Converter: Video Converter for Mac. With it, you also can easily transfer all popular formats like MP4, H.264, MXF, MTS, AVCHD, VOB, MPG, etc. to Apple ProRes 422, ProRes 4444 in Mac with a few clicks. Below is the step by step guide.

From Our Customers

I have tried many of these products (and spent a lot of money and time on it) so I can take my family's movies out of the hands of my toddlers and put them in a NAS digitally. This is the best one I have found. The visuals are above other products I have used by a good measure. And it is pretty fast as well.

Great job on this software. It's the Ultimate software for video, DVD/Blu-ray conversion and it's an intuitive, attractive interface. But all in all, this is the best swiss army knife converter I've used. A reliable company, great product!!
