Sony XDCAM to ProRes-Work XDCAM to ProRes 422, 4444 for Final Cut Pro (El Capitan)

Read this guide to learn how to convert and transcode Sony XDCAM MXF/MP4 file to Apple ProRes video for further editing with Mac Video to Apple ProRes Converter.

Sony's XDCAM HD format is based on optical media, Sony’s Professional Disc system. Sony XDCAM HD camcorders record high-resolution MPEG-2 Long-GOP files, using the standardized Material Exchange Format container, other wise know as MXF. A low-resolution MPEG-4 video stream for proxy-based video editing is also created simultaneously with the high-resolution content during recoding.

During the XDCAM HD importing & editing process with the non-linear editor Final Cut Pro, many users are fed up with the incompatibility issues. Since Sony XCAM HD (MXF, MEPG-4) files are not ideal for editing in FCP. We'd consider going to some uncompressed codec that FCP might handle.

To fulfill your need, a video converter app is needed. Brorsoft Video Converter for Mac is the tool highly recommended. The program comes with several optimized format for Final Cut Pro, which enables you to transcode XDCAM footage to ProRes 422, ProRes 422 HQ, ProRes 422 LT, ProRes 4444 for using in Final Cut Pro X, FCP 6, FCP 7 directly. Besides converting XDCAM to MOV, this Mac video converter also enables you to convert many other videos files like AVI/MKV/MP4/MPG to ProRes on Mac with the best quality. Just download the program and start Sony XDCAM to ProRes conversion under Mac OS X.
